How to Sell Cells in Mitosis: Where the SELL Button Is and How It Works

The sell control in Mitosis is the SELL button on the bottom bar of the lab screen — the main cell-splitting screen. It sits right beside SPLIT: SPLIT grows your cell population, and SELL turns the cells you've built up into Cash.

How to turn cells into Cash

With the cell-splitting screen open and AUTO off:

1. Click SPLIT at the bottom center to grow your batch. The × number above SPLIT tells you how many cells you have — ×2 means two cells.
2. Wait for the cooldown countdown and progress bar to finish, then click SPLIT again to keep growing the batch. For more on this half of the loop, see how to split cells.
3. When the batch is the size you want, click SELL, beside SPLIT, to convert the accumulated cells into Cash.
4. Selling leaves one cell so you can keep producing, and the Cash you earn can be spent on the upgrades on the right side of the screen.

If SELL is locked

SELL can briefly lock right after a sale while the payout settles. Let the sale finish and the button becomes available again. A lock icon by itself does not mean you have to fill your entire capacity before selling.

Selling inside challenges

Ordinary selling on the main screen is not try-limited — that restriction only exists inside the CHALLENGE goals The Sage introduces. There, SELL becomes a limited resource: each goal has a cash target and a set number of SELL attempts, shown as TRIES. Every sale spends one try, so split and build a big batch before spending one.

The goal's progress readout tells you what is left: a bar showing $48 / $100 with 3 TRIES means you still need $52 across up to three sales. Plan each batch from that goal progress rather than your wallet balance. The challenges guide covers the goal rules in full.

Time big sales with boost events

Two timed events boost sale payouts while they run: Gold Rush multiplies sales by 2× and Rainbow by 1.5×. Build a batch and complete the sale while the event's countdown is still active — once the timer expires, the bonus ends.
