Mitosis Challenges Guide: How to Enter and Beat THE 3 GOALS
How to enter the Mitosis challenge, read the goal bar, budget your SELL attempts and handle the third goal's Boss restrictions to beat THE 3 GOALS.
The Mitosis challenge is THE 3 GOALS: a set of three goals where each goal has a cash target and a limited number of SELL attempts, and the third goal is a Boss round with an extra restriction. You enter it through the CHALLENGE button at the top of the screen, clear each goal by selling prepared batches of cells until the credited cash on the goal bar reaches the target, and finish the set by beating the Boss. If a goal beats you instead, you lose nothing.

Find and enter the challenge
The CHALLENGE button sits at the top of the screen. While it is locked, it displays progress beneath it: keep running the split-and-sell loop, and once the button turns green, click it to enter. Inside, The Sage introduces THE 3 GOALS.
Difficulty is chosen in the Challenge panel, and Normal is one displayed setting. If you see a message that the next set will be harder, that describes progression between sets — it is not an automatic switch to another difficulty setting.
Read the goal bar
While a goal is active, everything you need is on the bar just above SPLIT and SELL:
- GOAL 1 OF 3 / 2 OF 3 / 3 OF 3 — your stage in the set.
- The cash fraction — earnings credited toward the current goal versus the amount required to clear it.
- TRIES — how many SELL attempts remain. Every sale spends one try; splitting prepares the batch without spending one.
- The BOSS line — on the third goal only, it names the active restriction.
Complete a goal
- Read the target, the credited cash and the remaining TRIES — plus the Boss line if you are on goal 3.
- Use SPLIT to build your batch, waiting out its cooldown between splits.
- Use SELL when the batch is ready. The sale spends one try and adds its credited earnings to the goal.
- Re-read the updated goal bar and plan your next batch from the goal's progress, not your wallet balance.
The bar tells you exactly what is left. A bar showing $48 / $100 with 3 TRIES means you need $52 more across up to three sales — and because a small sale consumes a try exactly like a large one, building the batch before you sell is the key discipline.
If you want a number to aim at, budget the rest of the goal: remaining cash = target cash − credited cash (never below 0), and average cash needed per remaining sale = remaining cash ÷ remaining TRIES. Update the numbers after every sale, and under a payment-cutting restriction use the cash actually credited to the goal. Individual sales do not have to be equal — combined, they only have to cover what is left.
Handle the third goal's Boss restrictions
The Boss round works like the other goals plus whatever restriction the BOSS line names:
| BOSS line | What it does | How to play it |
|---|---|---|
| ONE TRY FEWER | Removes one SELL attempt from the round | The TRIES on the bar already reflect the restriction, so prepare a fuller batch before committing an attempt. With only one try left, your next sale must cover the entire remaining gap. |
| Splits Take Twice as Long | Doubles split duration | Wait out the full cooldown and keep splitting to build the batch — a longer wait is not a reason to spend a SELL attempt early. |
| Only Half of Your Balls Pay | Only half your balls contribute payment | Build up the batch and judge each sale by the actual increase on the goal bar; a large ball count alone does not tell you how much cash will count. |
While you face Only Half of Your Balls Pay, an active Rainbow event provides ×1.5 SELL and can help you clear the Boss: prepare a useful batch and aim to sell while the boost is still active.
CASH OUT, rewards and beating the set
Clearing a goal brings up CASH OUT. Read its amount separately from the goal bar: the target is the earnings requirement you must meet, while CASH OUT displays the settlement amount — and the two can differ. A longer-split Boss clear with a $245K target can show $207K CASH OUT, so the target itself is not a promised payout.
Challenge rewards can include cash, Tokens and new cards. In one observed clear, a $270 goal finished by a $349 sale awarded 6 Tokens and an Overgrowth card — rewards for that specific clear, not a fixed reward table for every goal.
Complete the third goal to beat the Boss and finish the set. SET BEATEN! confirms completion, the Card Shop becomes available, and beating a Boss round also fulfills the Gold Boss Buster achievement requirement.
Failing, retrying and the one-sale clear
Failing a goal does not make you lose anything, so you can attempt the challenge without treating failure as a loss of your existing resources.
The Silver One and Done achievement rewards the opposite of a careful multi-sale goal: complete a challenge goal with a single SELL. Build up the batch before your first sale of that goal — a $349 sale can clear a $270 target in one attempt, leaving three of the original four tries unused.
