Mitosis: How to Get Mutations (And Check What You've Unlocked)
Mutations in Mitosis are discovered by splitting cells. Here's how discovery chances work during Eclipse and Lava Rain, and where to check what you've unlocked in the MUTATIONS panel.
Mutations in Mitosis come from splitting cells: every split is a chance-based shot at surfacing one of the game's 28 mutations, and the MUTATIONS panel is where you confirm what you've collected. Here's how the discovery loop works, when your odds are best, and how to read your unlocks.

Keep splitting — that's the discovery route
Discovery rides on the normal split loop, and it's chance-based per split: no single split is guaranteed to produce anything new. The working routine is to keep splitting, then use the mutation index to identify the categories and effects of whatever turned up. If you're still building the split-and-sell habit itself, the Mitosis beginner guide covers it.
Split during Eclipse for rares, Lava Rain for everything else
Weather events raise your mutation chances, but only while the event is active and its countdown is running. Use the event directory to see which weather is live, then plan your splitting session around it:
| Event | Mutation multiplier | Rare-mutation multiplier | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eclipse | 1.5× (shown as MUTATIONS) | 6× (shown as RARE ONES or RARE) | Rare mutations — the priority window |
| Lava Rain | 1.75× | — | General discovery, and Molten — its message says most balls turn Molten |
Eclipse is the event to prioritize for rare discoveries thanks to its separate 6× rare bonus; Lava Rain's higher general multiplier doesn't make it better for rares. Lava Rain is the stronger general window, and the time to chase Molten.
Other events don't boost mutations at all — Gold Rush and Rainbow improve sales instead — so any splitting during them runs at regular odds. The Mitosis events guide covers the full lineup and timers.
How to check what you've unlocked
- Open MUTATIONS to review your collection.
- Inspect YOUR BEST BALL for its recorded composition.
- Hover over any ball on the playfield to read that ball's own details.
On a ball's readout, the VALUE section lists its value mutations and TRAITS lists the traits attached to it — one ball can carry both categories at once, including multiple entries in each. Your finds are reflected in the MUTATIONS panel and these on-ball tooltips, so make checking them part of the routine after a splitting session.
Read the 1/N label correctly
A ball's detail readout also shows a 1/N label. It's a probability-style label only — separate from the ball's cash payout, its VALUE multipliers and the leaderboard score. And if you inspect a ball while an event is running, don't treat the 1/N you see as the unboosted base chance: event bonuses can affect the conditions under which these labels appear.
Putting it together
Split steadily, prioritize Eclipse when rares are the goal and Lava Rain for general finds or Molten, then confirm everything in MUTATIONS and on the balls themselves. The mutations overview explains values, traits and how to read each mutation, and once a find is in your collection it can be fused into new mixes — the mutation mixes guide covers how mixes work. Before a long session, it's also worth a quick check of the current codes.
