Mitosis Upgrades: What Cash Buys and How to Check Costs
Cash upgrades in Mitosis live on the right of the lab screen. See what Ball Value, Split Speed and Capacity do, and how to check any panel before buying.
In Mitosis, the upgrades you buy with Cash are the panels on the right side of the lab screen. The Cash comes from your own cells: press SPLIT to grow your cell population, then SELL to turn those cells into cash. Spend that cash on the right-side upgrades to improve your next batch — each panel shows its current effect, next effect and price before you spend anything.

How to buy a Cash upgrade
- On the lab screen, press SPLIT to grow your cell population.
- Press SELL to convert those cells into Cash.
- Look at the upgrade area on the right and read a panel's current effect, next effect and cash price. That is how you check any upgrade before buying it.
- Once you have at least the displayed price, click that panel to purchase. Exact prices are shown per panel in game.
Each purchase improves your next batch, so the loop repeats: split, sell, upgrade. If you're new to this cycle, the Mitosis beginner guide walks through the basics.
Choosing your first upgrade
If you're picking a first upgrade, choose by what you want to improve:
| Upgrade | What it does | Choose it when... |
|---|---|---|
| Ball Value | Raises the sale value per cell | You want the cells you already produce to be worth more |
| Split Speed | Shortens the split cooldown | Waiting between splits is slowing you down |
| Capacity | Raises the number of cells you can hold | You're reaching your population limit and want room for a larger batch |
The right-side panels in game are the authoritative list of what's currently purchasable — any panel there can be checked and bought the same way.
Funding your next purchase
Keep splitting and selling cells to fund further upgrades. Working promo codes can also grant extra cash, which lets you reach upgrade prices sooner — the current list lives on the Mitosis codes page.
Cash upgrades vs. the rebirth skill tree
Cash upgrades aren't the only upgrade system. Mitosis also has a large skill tree that opens after you rebirth and is unlocked with tokens, not Cash. Its nodes add permanent boosts that persist through rebirths. The two systems are separate: Cash upgrades improve your next batch from the lab screen, while the skill tree is the long-term one. For how nodes work, see the Mitosis skill tree guide.
