Mitosis Tokens: Where They Come From and What They Buy

Tokens in Mitosis come from rebirths, challenge goal clears and promo codes. Here's how to earn them and spend them on skill tree nodes and cards.

Tokens in Mitosis come from rebirths, challenge goal clears and promo codes. You spend them on skill tree nodes and on cards. Here's how each part works.

Where Tokens come from

Rebirth. Rebirthing earns you Tokens, and it's also the action that opens the skill tree. If you haven't rebirthed yet, your first rebirth starts your rebirth earnings and unlocks the tree where Tokens are spent. The rebirth guide covers the loop in detail.

Challenge goals. Clearing a challenge goal can award Tokens alongside cash and new cards. The amount isn't fixed: for example, one clear of a $270 earnings goal finished by a $349 sale paid 6 Tokens plus an Overgrowth card. That was the reward for that particular clear, not a standard payout for every goal. The challenges page explains how goals and rewards work.

Codes. The game's promo codes have included Tokens among their rewards. Check the Codes page for the currently active list before you start a session.

What Tokens are spent on

Skill tree nodes. Tokens unlock nodes on the giant skill tree, and each node adds a permanent boost that persists through every rebirth — that's why the Tokens you earn keep paying off. The skill tree guide breaks down what the nodes do.

Cards. Tokens also buy cards and card rerolls. The Card Shop isn't available from the start — you unlock it by beating a Boss set. Complete the third Boss goal, and the "SET BEATEN!" message confirms the set is finished and the shop opens. The bosses guide explains the set structure that unlocks the shop.

That's the Token economy: earn from rebirths and challenge clears (plus any active code that grants Tokens), then commit them to skill tree boosts that survive every rebirth, or to card purchases and rerolls once your Card Shop is open.
